Just a thought....

Too often I hear "I don't like taking pictures" or "I'm not photogenic" or "I like to be the one behind the camera"....
When I was younger my mother would take us almost every year to get family portraits taken. That or my cousin Max would call me up early in the morning and say lets go get some new portraits taken of you guys! My sister and I would jump at the chance to go have some fun in front of the camera. When I see these pictures my buck teeth, chunky, adolescent self looks back at me. My reaction isn't "OH HECKS NO BURN THAT PIC" instead I smile and remember that exact day.
My cousin Christina recently had a baby girl named Chloe. She looks at her daughter and marvels at the crazy resemblance between them. She is able to see it partly because of the photos she has of herself as a child. Growing up my mother had a picture of my grandmother up on the mantle. She would say to us "ce qui sa?" (who is that?). Because we didn't know any better we would say "You mommy!" I look at that photo now and I'm just happy I have it especially with her being gone. The point is don't deprive yourself or the ones who come after your of photos. The power that they hold is simply incredible and invaluable.
